2007 CAPTAIN’S LOG AND END OF THE YEAR REPORT

 EMERALD COAST PARROT HEAD CLUB
 
Another year has gone by and we are in our 7th year.  We continue to carry out the “Party with a Purpose” attitude with a total of $15,299.00 paid out to various charities, including a number of local charities.
 
Our membership was stable with a total of 541 members reported as of year end.  We started out the year as the 6th largest club in the world of approximately 240 clubs in over 10 countries around the world.  Let’s continue to let our family, friends and the entire community know that we are more than just a “Social Club” and that we really do make an impact in our local community.   
 
Following is a recap of the year 2007:
 
January
·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Anglers) (collected raffle $ for Relay*)

·       Sent out Survey to members

February

     3 - Mardi Gras Parade - Okaloosa Island
6 – Wine Tasting at Ruth Chris

    10 - Chili Cook-Off - Santa Rosa Mall – Won People’s Choice Award

    17 - Mardi Gras Parade – Navarre

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Hog’s Breath) (raffle $ for Relay*)

March

     3 - Beach Clean Up

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Joint Phlocking with Panama City Club at Pandora’s of Grayton Beach (raffle $ for Relay*)

April

     21 - Beach Clean-Up

     28 - Chili Cook-Off to benefit Relay for Life ($2,464-this $ included in total Relay funds *)

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Johnny O’Quigley’s) (raffle $ for Relay*) 

May

     4 - Relay for Life (Destin) - sold "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" and Hot Dogs - $5,199.00 *Total for all Relay Events*

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Scully’s) (raffle for S.O.C.K.S. - Save our Cats and Kittens and Golden Retriever Rescue)

June

     1-2 - Booth at Billy Bowlegs Festival (sold blinky items)
2 - Beach Clean-Up
9 - Member Appreciation Party

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Howl at the Moon) (raffles for Westwood Retirement Happy Hour and Project Uplift - phone cards for troops)

July

     20 - Sea Blaster Cruise – 53 + people

     28 – Covenant Hospice Presentation of Check at Cablethon

·       No Membership meeting this month

·       Phlocking - Hooter’s of Destin (raffle for Covenant Hospice)

·       Group Get-Together – Trader Vic’s of Destin

August

    18 - Poker Run – Dock Workers

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Helen Back) (both raffles for Scholarship Fund)

September

     15 – Poker Walk

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Joint Phlocking with Pensacola Club at Cocodries (raffle $ for Salvation Army Empty Stocking Fund and Zoo of Gulf Breeze)

October
     5 – Destin Seafood Festival (8 members worked 3 hour shift for $500)

26-Nov. 4 - Destin World Cup Races (volunteers)

Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (LJ Schooners – Niceville) (raffle for Sharing & Caring and Families First Network)

November

·       Monthly Membership Meeting and Phlocking (Trader Vic’s of Destin) (raffle for Scholarship Fund and for FamiliesFirst Network)

December

8 – Destin Christmas Parade – 48 Walkers

·       Christmas Wish Lists for 31 children (Family First Network)

·       Monthly Membership Meeting (raffle for Families First Network) – also Adirondack Chair Raffle Drawing (proceeds for Scholarship Fund)

 

2007 went out with a blast with our annual New Year’s Eve Party at Fudpucker’s attended by 59 of the finest members ever celebrating in Roman Toga Theme! 
 
Total Volunteer Hours for the Year were: 1,943 Hours
I want to personally thank our members for a great 2007, and I look forward to a fun and prosperous 2008 for our club and its members, along with our new
President, Barger Jenkins.  Welcome aboard, Captain!
